Results of Fourth Auction of CO2 Emissions Allowance Announced

Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced in a press release on June 19th, the results of the fourth auction of CO2 allowances.  The auction raised $104.2 million in proceeds, which will be used to support low-carbon intensity solutions.  The clearing price for 2009 allowances was $3.23 per allowance.  A parallel offering for the second three-year control period beginning in 2012 yielded a clearing price of $2.06 per allowance.  A CO2 allowance is a permit, which allows the holder to emit one ton of CO2.  A fifth auction is scheduled for September 9, 2009.

California Air Resources Board Awards $6.8 Million to Assist in the Construction of Four Hydrogen Stations

The California Air Resources Board announced on April 7th that it has awarded Mebtahi Station Services, San Francisco Airport, Shell Hydrogen, and UCLA $1.7 million each to supplement the construction of hydrogen refueling stations.  The new stations will serve the increasing number of fuel cell vehicles on the road in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Orange County.

Results of Third Auction of CO2 Emissions Allowance Announced

Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced in a press release on March 20th, the results of the third auction of CO2 allowances.  The clearing price for 2009 allowances was $3.51 per allowance.  A parallel offering for the second three-year control period beginning in 2012 yielded a clearing price of $3.05 per allowance.  A CO2 allowance is a permit, which allows the holder to emit one ton of CO2.  A fourth auction is scheduled for June 17, 2009.

Results of Second Auction of CO2 Emissions Allowance Announced

Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced in a press release issued on December 19, 2008 the completion of a second auction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions allowances. The clearing price was US $ 3.38 per allowance.

California Air Resources Board Approves Scoping Plan

The California Air Resources Board approved a scoping plan, as required by AB 32, to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the state to 1990 levels by the year 2020.
